1. Key Account Manager
We are seeking a Key Account Manager (Railway Freight Business) as a part of DB E&C Team in Qatar. In your role, you will be responsible for acquiring and managing potential future customers for the rail freight team for the GCC Railway. The job open-ing is located in Riyadh, Doha or Abu Dhabi, and offers exciting challenges and potential for career growth.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for acquiring and managing potential future customers for the rail freight team for the GCC Railway.
- Identify potential future clients and make initial contact with them.
- Discuss potential specific business opportunities with future clients, determine client needs and develop commercial models.
- Support the Railway Business Expert and the Freight Expert in the development of the rail freight business plan for the GCC Railway.
- Support the Rail Freight Business Expert in performing a Market Study by approaching potential future customers and discuss their appetite for using rail.
- Support preparation of tender documents or any other documents required in the procurement.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree in economics, in Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
- 15+ years’ experience within international transport and logistics holdings providing railway services as a core business. Sales representative of a logistics service provider. Development of sales agreements between railways and clients.
- Must be fluent in both English and Arabic.
- Deep knowledge of sales activities of a logistics service provider with focus on rail business.
- Solid ability to conduct sales meetings and negotiate with potential clients.
- Able to sell the advantages of rail freight over other alternatives.
- Development of sales agreements, MoUs, LoIs and such like.
- Excellent skills in MS Office.
2. Transportation Modeler
We are seeking a Transportation Modeler as part of DB Engineering & Consulting GmbH, KSABranch. In this role, developing and analyzing transportation models to assess traffic flow, optimize systems, and support decision-making for infrastructure projects. The job opening is located in Doha, Qatar, and offers exciting challenges and potential for career growth.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing and analyzing transportation models to assess traffic flow, optimize systems, and support decision-making for infrastructure projects.
- Develop and maintain transportation models for a wide range of projects, including traffic forecasting, network design, public transit systems, and pedestrian/bicycle modeling.
- Utilize transportation modeling software (e.g., VISUM, VISSIM, SYNCHRO, EMME, TransCAD, AIMSUN) to simulate traffic operations and predict future transportation conditions.
- Gather and analyze traffic, transit, and socio-economic data to calibrate and validate transportation models.
- Perform transportation flow analysis, capacity analysis, and multi-modal transportation analysis (vehicular, pedestrian, and cyclist behavior).
- Conduct "what-if" scenario analysis to evaluate the impacts of proposed transportation projects, policy changes, or modifications to existing infrastructure.
- Assess the effectiveness of various transportation solutions, such as changes in lane configurations, traffic signal timings, or public transport improvements.
- Propose solutions to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, enhance safety, and maximize system efficiency based on model outcomes.
- Develop recommendations for infrastructure improvements, transit enhancements, or changes in traffic management strategies based on model results.
- Work closely with urban planners, traffic engineers, and transportation planners to ensure that model outcomes align with broader planning and development goals.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including local authorities, developers, and community representatives, to ensure that transportation models meet project needs and support decision-making.
- Prepare and present reports, including technical documents, simulation results, and recommendations, in a clear and accessible format for both technical & non-technical stakeholders.
- Present model results and analysis findings to clients, regulators, and project teams through presentations and meetings.
Qualifications:
- Doctorate, Master’s/Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Urban Planning, or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 or more years' experience in transportation modeling, traffic analysis, or related areas. Experience with traffic flow analysis, network modeling, and multi-modal transportation planning.
- International membership in relevant professional institution and Certified Licensure related to the task are preferred.
- GCC experience is preferred.
- Knowledge in transportation planning principles, traffic operations and multi-modal systems.
- Strong understanding of transportation modeling methods, including macroscopic, mesoscopic and microscopic simulation. Experience with statistical analysis and model calibration/validation techniques.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies in transportation, including connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs), smart traffic systems, and mobility as a service (MaaS).
- Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for spatial data analysis and mapping.
- Fluent in both English and Arabic language. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, are essential to success in this role.
- Analytical thinking & problem-solving skills
- Good communication & management skills for the necessary liaison with Ministry Land Transport Department and other Government Stakeholders and private institution in transportation industry and strong leadership skills
- Advanced knowledge in MS Office Applications, MS Teams and Share Point Online. Utilize transportation modeling software (e.g., VISUM, VISSIM, SYNCHRO, EMME, TransCAD, AIMSUN) to simulate traffic operations and predict future transportation conditions. Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, R, Python, GIS) for processing and interpreting large datasets.
- Driving license required to drive to site or to technical meetings with the client representative.
