BMS/SCADA Information Technology & Controls Engineer
Purpose of the Job
• To provide with full responsibility and accountability, a technical service to our Client, of IT/Network Systems, Engineering and planning to meet the requirements of the specifications and the correct functionality of the design. This is an engineering role with the electrical ELV Engineering Team and is involved with the design and implementation of complex IP networks, ensuring the infrastructure is designed and planned to defined architectural standards and meets all requirements.
• Liaises with Project Engineers, other Discipline Engineers and End-Users, in order to develop cost effective, and fit for purpose design solutions to fit. Corporation requirements. Work with key stakeholders to understand their requirements and ensure that IP infrastructure is designed, planned and capacity managed to meet or exceed these.
• Provides a consultancy service as a Specialist Mattars Expert (SME) in Core/ application networking to peers and clients.
• Contributes toward updating discipline Engineering Codes, Standards, Specifications, and Philosophies.
Duties and responsibilities
• Working on construction site, assist Resident Engineer with Contractor supervision by validating design and installation of basic building/energy management systems, i.e. closed circuit, TV, elevator controls, fire alarm, Building Management Systems (BMS, public address systems, evacuation and ventilation controls, lighting, irrigation, security card readers and other control systems for infrastructure projects.
• Working knowledge of SCADA, BMS and PLC Systems and Low Voltage controls systems subject matter expert. Assists in validating sequences of operation and validating commissioning plans.
• Develops and implementing QA procedures to ensure quality control performed by others is properly implements throughout the program and assigned projects.
• Reviews standards to materials and equipment to ensure they are in accordance with specifications and LEED sustainability plan.
• Perform constructability, build ability and maintainability reviews, specially as related to low voltage control.
• Reviews shop drawings and construction phase submittals when issues that require specific technical assistance.
• Reviews design drawings and specifications at periodic check points as required by the PMP milestones
• Writes detailed reports related to mechanical engineering of projects and confers with the program managers as requested
